RESEARCH
(I found this news on a man who passed away at the Coffee Shop and it was a mystery as to how he died.

REFLECTION PAPER
(I thought of using the detective format and the genre, mystery, because I like mystery genre’s. Also, the news article stated that the man died in an unnatural way and this immediately made me think of something mysterious.

Since it was something mysterious, it led me to think of a detective. When I think of the detective, it linked me to more mysteries and troubles. Therefore, I ended up adding a twist in the plot where the suspect becomes a robber and the sidekick messes everything up. )

TREATMENT / STORYLINE & STORYBOARD
(Mason Walker, a detective who is so dull that no one would spent time talking to him for more than a few minutes; and Alex Broom, his sidekick who messes everything up for him.

Mason had been walking around town to find more cases to solve, chanced upon a case that has never happened before. A man had been found dead at a hawker Centre and the cause of death was unknown. Mason went to the scene and saw that the man died in a weird way. The victim was sitting up and appeared to have been drinking coffee before he passed away. Witnesses said the man looked like he was sleeping as he was leaning back in the chair with his eyes shut and his body slanting slightly to one side.

It was not the first time Mason had chance upon cases, but this case was weird because the reason of death is not known. Determined to find out the cause of death, as well as the murderer, Mason and Alex began searching for evidence. Fingerprints were taken and items of the victim were sent to the lab for clues that could help solve the case. Being the klutz that he was, Alex managed to ruin the crime scene by stepping on evidence that were vital to the case and on top of that, he knocked down the cup that were suppose to contain the drink that the victim had before he died.

Mason had seen this too many times and he had given up hope that maybe someday, Alex could be a good sidekick to him. Therefore, knowing that Alex will mess up the crime scene, Mason had collected evidence as fast as he could. However, even with his speed, he did not manage to get the fingerprint from the cup before Alex broke it. Mason managed to gather the pieces of the cup. It was sent to the lab for a test for any chemicals compound that could have led to the man’s death.

They found a suspect after going through the evidence and they had tracked him down. However, the suspect ran when he saw Mason and Alex and they had to chase him down. Alex messed up again when he released the suspect by accident. Mason had to catch him again and it turned out that the suspect was a witness who had been trying to rob the body of any valuable items.

The witness was released and charged for wasting precious time, as well as, robbing the victim. The case remained unsolved, as Mason could not find any evidence that someone had drugged the victim or that someone had killed the victim. )
